Leslie J. Padrnos, M.D.
Dr. Padrnos is a hematology–oncology specialist at Mayo Clinic, with a particular focus on nonmalignant hematology, thrombosis, and hemostasis. She practices in Phoenix, Arizona, where she is also affiliated with the Mayo Clinic hematology faculty.
Dr. Padrnos earned her medical degree from the University of Arizona in 2011. She completed her internal medicine residency and hematology/oncology fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Arizona, followed by an advanced fellowship as a Mayo Clinic Scholar in thrombosis and coagulopathy in collaboration with the University of Washington.
Clinically, Dr. Padrnos evaluates and manages complex thrombotic disorders, recurrent thrombosis, bleeding disorders, anticoagulation strategies, and chronic myeloid hematologic malignancies such as myeloproliferative neoplasms and myelodysplastic syndromes. She is also active in research and medical education, working to integrate patient‐centered care, education, and evidence‐based practice into her clinical work.
Dr. Padrnos holds board certifications in hematology and internal medicine/medical oncology, and over her career she has received recognition for her contributions to medical education, leadership within hematology, and scholarly work in coagulation and thrombosis.
Surbhi Shah, M.B.B.S.
Dr. Shah is a hematologist at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, where she cares for patients with non‑malignant blood disorders and complex clotting and bleeding conditions. Her clinical interests include immune hematology, thrombosis in high‑risk populations (such as individuals with cancer, antiphospholipid antibody syndrome etc) and hematological issues for patients with solid organ transplant .
She is deeply committed to patient‑centered care, practicing shared decision‑making and striving to integrate evidence into individualized care plans. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Shah is active in education and mentorship, guiding medical students, residents, and fellows in hematology and oncology.
Dr Shah is on several committees where she works with national and international experts in the field to create guidelines to help care for patients and define standard of care.
Dr. Shah also pursues systems based research that focuses on implementation and outcome, with a particular focus on thrombotic complications among high‑risk patient groups and the development of anticoagulation stewardship systems. She is part of the Kern Health Care Delivery Scholar Program at Mayo, where she works on building learning health systems around safe anticoagulation practices.
Her training included an M.B.B.S. degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, followed by residency in internal medicine and pathology, and fellowship in hematology, medical oncology, and transplantation. Dr. Shah has published on topics such as immunohematology, thrombosis, bleeding disorders, and interventions to improve care delivery in hematology.
